Optical properties of Zn0.5Cd0.5Se thin films grown on InP by molecular beam epitaxy

چکیده
We report photoluminescence (PL) and reflectivity measurements of Zn0.5Cd0.5Se epilayers grown by molecular beam epitaxy on InP substrates. The low-temperature PL spectra are dominated by asymmetric lines, which can be deconvoluted into two Gaussian peaks with a separation of ,8 meV. The behavior of these peaks is studied as a function of excitation intensity and temperature, revealing that these are free exciton (FE) and bound exciton emission lines. Two lower energy emission lines are also observed and assigned to the first and second longitudinal optical phonon replicas of the FE emission. The temperature dependence of the intensity, line width, and energy of the dominant emission lines are described by an Arrhenius plot, a Bose– Einstein type relationship, Varshni’s and Bose–Einstein equations, respectively. q 2003 Elsevier Ltd. Structural and optical characterizations of InPBi thin films grown by molecular beam epitaxy
InPBi thin films have been grown on InP by gas source molecular beam epitaxy. A maximum Bi composition of 2.4% is determined by Rutherford backscattering spectrometry. X-ray diffraction measurements show good structural quality for Bi composition up to 1.4% and a partially relaxed structure for higher Bi contents. The bandgap was measured by optical absorption, and the bandgap reduction caused ...
متن کاملGrowth and optical property characterization of textured barium titanate thin films for photonic applications
We have investigated the growth of barium titanate thin films on bulk crystalline and amorphous substrates utilizing biaxially oriented template layers. Ion beam-assisted deposition was used to grow thin, biaxially textured, magnesium oxide template layers on amorphous and silicon substrates. Growth of highly oriented barium titanate films on these template layers was achieved by molecular beam...

متن کاملStudy of the effect of plasma power on ZnO thin films growth using electron cyclotron resonance plasma-assisted molecular-beam epitaxy
ZnO thin films were grown on r-plane sapphire substrates using electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) plasma-assistedmolecular-beam epitaxy. The effect of the oxygen ECR plasma power on the growth rate, structural, electrical, and optical properties of the ZnO thin films were studied. It was found that larger ECR power leads to higher growth rate, better crystallinity, lower electron carrier concen...
متن کاملOptical , structural , and electrical properties of Mg 2 NiH 4 thin films in situ grown by activated reactive evaporation
Mg2NiH4 thin films have been prepared by activated reactive evaporation in a molecular beam epitaxy system equipped with an atomic hydrogen source. The optical reflection spectra and the resistivity of the films are measured in situ during deposition. In situ grown Mg2NiH4 appears to be stable in vacuum due to the fact that the dehydrogenation of the Mg2NiH4 phase is kinetically blocked. Hydrog...
